Custom Grazing

For generations, Plum Creek Ranch ran it's own Red Angus cow herd across these Flint Hills pastures. That history is part of who we are, and it still shapes how we manage every acre today.

As we transitioned from Plum Creek Ranch to PCR Livestock LLC, we made a deliberate shift: instead of carrying a cow herd of our own year-round, we moved into custom grazing — partnering with dedicated cattle producers and putting our Flint Hills grass to work for their top-notch cattle each season, May through November.

The decision came down to flexibility. Owning a herd ties up capital and risk in one place all year. Custom grazing lets us focus on what we do best — managing grass and cattle at a high level — while freeing up room to grow the rest of our operation, including our Spanish goats and EasyCare hair sheep.

The standards haven't changed. We still bring the same close attention and know-how to every animal in our care — they just happen to belong to someone else now.

Red Angus X Charolais

At PCR, we raise Red Angus Charolais cross cattle.  This combination produces docile calves that have great maternal qualities, a moderate build, and high growth rates.
